A Evangelist church managed by South Korean missionaries has been closed due to an order from the Samarkand regional justice department, a department source told Interfax.
The church's registration certificate was repealed and the building was handed over to a Korean cultural center.
"The church failed to comply with the declared goals," the source said.
More than 2,200 organizations of 16 religions, 90% of them Islamic, are registered in Uzbekistan, the Religious Affairs Committee said. There are 164 Christian organizations, eight Jewish communities, six Bahai communities, a Krishnaite community and a Buddhist temple.
