Åxpert Tells about German Experience in Struggle against Human Trafficking
27 June 2008 12:22
www.gzt.uz - “Addressing a two-day joint training workshop on “Counteraction to Human Trafficking: Its Coverage in Media” teacher of the Police Academy of Germany, doctor Charles Andreas Harnekame told about the experience of Germany in its struggle against human trafficking,” said an official from the Information Group under the Institute for Study of civil Society.
In his lecture on “Human Trafficking Practice by the Example of Germany” Mr. Harnekame told the participants about the Criminal Legislation of Germany, international legal norms (UN, EU) aimed at counteraction to human trafficking and he cited some statistical data upon this issue and some information about political projects on human trafficking prevention in Germany.
“There are two kinds of human trafficking in the Criminal Legislation of Germany: sexual exploitation and labor exploitation but criminal liability for labor exploitation was implemented only in 2005. There are criminal norms of punishment for such crimes as assistance to human trafficking, concealment, transportation conditions and in case of suspicion in involvement in human trafficking phones, apartments and offices of the suspected are intercepted,” he said.
He noticed that «neither marriage agencies nor persons who adopt children are part of the human trafficking concept and they are not pursued in a criminal order. In this case a distinction  between legality and illegality is not accurately traced”.
Doctor Harnekame acquainted participants of the training workshop with some political projects on struggle against human trafficking which are under way in Germany.
It has to be reminded that the two-day joint training workshop on “Counteraction to Human Trafficking: Its Coverage in Media” was conducted by the F.Ebert  Fund and the International Centre on Retraining of Journalists.
