Svetlana Artykova: “A Liberalization Trend of Criminal Punishments is in Development in Uzbekistan”

www.gzt.uz - “The Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the International Centre for Retraining of Journalists held a two-day joint training workshop on “Counteraction to Human Trafficking: Its Coverage in Media”, said an official from the Information Group, Institute for Study of Civil Society.
Representatives of the Press-service to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan and other NGOs took part in this event.
Addressing the participants of the training workshop head of the press-service to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan Svetlana Artykova said that a liberalization trend of criminal punishments is in development in Uzbekistan .
“The Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Counteraction to Human Trafficking” was adopted with a purpose to increase the effectiveness of a joint counteraction to human trafficking, to regulate relations in the sphere of effective counteraction to human trafficking in Uzbekistan . The Law introduces such concepts as counteraction to human trafficking, human trafficking and human traffickers,” she said.
She also noticed that the adoption of the law is called upon to regulate relations in this sphere and it undoubtedly will allow to strengthen the position of Uzbekistan in the system of global counteraction to human trafficking.
Head of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Central-Asian countries Wulf-Winrich Lapins has addressed the event too.
