Uzbekistan to host Asia Cup for U-16

Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Uzbekistan will host the final round of the Asia Cup for 16-year old group (U-16) after the Asia Football Confederation (AFC) agreed to its offer to host the event.
In a statement made available here on Monday, AFC said the final round will be held from October 4 to 19 in the Army and Jar Stadiums.
Some 16 teams, including the Indonesian team, will take part in the final round.
The final match will be held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan on April 1.
So far, 12 teams have confirmed their participation in the final round, namely India (of Group C); Syria; Yemen (of Group A); Iran, Bahrain (of Group B); Uzbekistan (of Group D); China, Singapore (of Group E), Japan, Indonesia (of Group F), Australia (of Group G) and South Korea (of Group H).
The competition was previously held in Singapore in which the Japanese team emerged as winner.
The best four teams in the finals will get tickets for the World Cup for 17-year old players to be held in 2009.
